Are You Reading Me From Your Refrigerator?

So I hear I can get a refrigerator with a built in bar code scanner. All I have to do is scan the UPC label of my groceries as I run out, and the refrigerator will generate my grocery list.

Of course...It must be attached to a network printer.

What's up with that? I can get a refrigerator with a built in MP3 player, but no grocery list printer?

Man. Guess I'll be roughing it.

Or I could hire a network administrator... You know, so I can get my oven, refrigerator, washer, dryer, and light switches capable of Internet communication.

And I guess all the rest of you guys are just going to stand idly by while these so-called appliances take over the world?

Don't buy any appliances from Skynet. They make Terminators.

They have fridges with TVs in them too. All I could think when I saw it in Best Buy was "Man, if we have another hurricane, all that food's going to leak on the TV and that fridge will be toast."

Is it wrong of me to think like that? :P

I'll send you a quote for that job...

Well, that oughta take some of the work out of foodblogging.

What I really want is a toilet with a heated seat, a perch for a book or newspaper, a fridge and microwave within arm's reach, and a soft headrest. With that and an Internet connection, I might never have to leave my room for weeks.

.. what would really be nice is a liquor cabinet that scans the barcodes as you empty a bottle.. and then emails the liquor store for delivery...

That Ellison character is scary. (*wink*)

But I do happen to have the latest high tech washer that will actually tell my dryer how to dry my clothes. Unfortunately, I could only afford the washer, so I have to personally tell my old dryer how to do what I need it to do. Ahhhhh....technology.......

I'd love for my fridge to make me a grocery list. I plan to have that technology in my kitchen when we build our house in a few years. But I'll keep my old fashioned shopping trips- I actually enjoy the grocery store, and DH and I go together.

SOMEONE ought to be able to put a thermal printer near where the in-the-door ice dispenser is, and have the list come out there. Just a small one, about the width of a receipt printer.

What I REALLY need is a robot to do the dusting and mow the yard.
