Hey, 'recently' is a very flexible, ambiguous and open-ended word. You may use it legitimately and almost indefinitely with complete candor. It's kinda like my scripted word at work for patients is 'shortly'. As in "We'll be with you ... shortly" We are REQUIRED by administration to use it because, by virtue of its ambiguity, we can't be held to any specific time commitment. This, in theory, at least, prevents said patients from committing acts of waiting room rage, or getting all petty and legalistic on us -- "You said 10 minutes and it's been 25 already, you big, fat, lazy, incompetent loser, you ..."
I've only recently given up being 'recently 40-ish' for occasionally admitting to being in my 'mid-fifties' -- where I intend to remain indefinitely. Actually, I purely don't give a flying fruitcake and will tell anyone who asks exactly how old I am, but I will defend to the death a woman's right to a modicum of ambiguity regarding any such personal issues!
